Can’t get enough of that desert
That sweet sweet desert. But such is the nature of the desert. Calling you with its dusty siren song. I bought a book that shows were the old miner cabins and indian pictographs are located. So we went to check it out. As well as some climbs. Actually just one climb. But it was a good climb.
We got there around 4 and the camp sites were already full. We asked some people if we could join them at their campsite and they let us in. Which was nice of them.
Our first hike the next day was to go see a mill. I think it was called Wall Street Mill. I think. There was a lot of old stuff out there. The mill was roped off so we had to wait until there was no one else around to go inside. It was interesting to see the old processes they used to break down the ore.
As you can see it was a lot of fun. There were a few rusted out cars, some cabins, and a windmill! I know. Next we were trying to find something a little more secluded. There is a cabin built into some boulders behind the Desert Queen mine area. It took a while to find. We got a little lost on our way becuase I didn’t read the book correctly. There was mostly a trail all the way there. But we ended up going over some hills and getting a lost.
However we did eventually find it. And getting lost made it more rewarding.
Here is Kenny complaining that he doesn’t want to die in the desert. Having the nerve to accuse me that I don’t know where I am on the map.

The next day we went out looking for a climb. It was a busy day and the first spot was taken so we looked on.

It was a fun trip. It was good to go out to the desert before Kenny leaves/left for the PCT.
